We have been made aware of some inaccurate information circulating regarding special ‘rescue packs’ for patients with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Please do not contact your GP practice for a rescue pack. You should continue to manage your condition in the usual way and if you feel you have symptoms of COVID-19, go to https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 before doing anything else.

Please read this helpful information from the British Lung Foundation

https://www.blf.org.uk/support-for-you/coronavirus/people-living-with-lung-condition

You will note that there is no recommendation to have a rescue pack as there is no evidence for their use and indeed their are concerns steroid will reduce your immunity to fight off this virus.

West Yorkshire and Harrogate Healthy Hearts call for Feedback

‘The first phase of the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Healthy Hearts project went live at the beginning of April. Phase one seeks to tackle Hypertension through the provision of clinical searches, treatment guidance and an implementation resource to local GP practices, enabling them to identify and treat patients who may be hypertensive but not yet on a disease register, and those who need to have their blood pressure more tightly controlled.

With phase two set to begin in the autumn the Healthy Hearts project team are looking for feedback, from anyone in West Yorkshire and Harrogate, about their proposed work to identify and treat - at scale - patients whose LDL cholesterol levels may be better controlled through switching to a high intensity statin, and also initiating a statin in those patients at risk of developing CVD.

The short public questionnaire can be found here on their website and on their twitter account at @WYHHealthyHeart.’

Patient Feedback

You can let us know what you think of our services via the friends and family test which is currently available on here on the home page - click on the right hand side "Friends and Family Test".  You can also complete a paper version in the practice if you prefer.   We also have a "comments book" on our reception desk that you are welcome to write in.   The NHS Choices website also has a review page if you want to put something on there.  We are more than happy to take action where we can to improve our service and the experience for our patients and we are absolutely delighted when we receive praise!

WE NO LONGER PROVIDE AN EAR SYRINGING SERVICE DUE TO CHANGES IN GUIDANCE. Please ask your pharmacy for self care options.
